Good one Muz. When I had to buy a van for my motor book business in the mid-90s, I bought a Mazda E2000 van (auto!). When I told my mates I had bought a slightly used van, they assumed it would be an old Morris J-Van or even a Morris Messenger. When I told them it was a Mazda, the reaction was "Not a Bongo Van!", so it was always called the Bongo. Mazda must have called all their vans in Japan Bongo, but all the brochures I have refer to them as the F800 or F1000 for the export market. They even made a ute and a Coach 'that seats 8 in roomy comfort'. I can't think of a more appropriate name for any van than Bongo.
