Speaking of Ford 'special vehicles' we mustn't forget the inspired efforts of Basil Green Motors in South Africa in the 1960s and '70s. Basil's Perana brand of enhanced Fords, like the 3.0-litre V6-powered MkII Cortina and 5.0-litre V8-powered Capris and Grenadas, were available off the showroom floor at Ford dealerships in SA and backed by Ford's new car warranties.
