We take great pleasure in announcing that preparations for the Targa Great Barrier Reef Shannons Classic Rallye Tour are well underway!

The Rallye gives entrants the opportunity to traverse the same closed roads as the competition. Headed off by a lead car, drivers will need to get the right foot activated in order to stay with the pack!

Entrants will get the full Targa experience without the stress of competition.

Rallye entrants will be rewarded with the breathtaking scenery of Queensland’s Tropical North as it vies for attention against the classic and modern sports cars entered across Targa’s various touring and competitive classes.

Closed roads means you can use the whole tarmac.

Based out of Cairns for the duration of the event, the magnificent, three-day Rallye is open to vehicles 25 years and older. The reasonable entry fee includes lunches for entrant and navigator, tickets to the welcome party, road books, hire of RallySafe device and finishing medals for driver and navigator.

Rallye Tour entrants need not prep for hardcore racing; just install a set of decent brake pads and bring a heavy right foot.

So, stop watching from the sidelines and get involved. Cars need to be presentable and in good mechanical order, with Shannons BDM Phil Ross recommending a set of brand-name brake pads. “It’s all about fun and enjoying your classic,” he says, “The only modifications I made to my 1978 Porsche 911 was some road/race pads and a new fire extinguisher.” Entrants require a Level 2 Non-speed Motorsport Australia (formerly CAMS) license, but a racing suit and helmet is not necessary.

If you own a pre-1996 classic car and want to stretch the gears in style, you will love the Shannons Classic Rallye at Targa Great Barrier Reef to be held in Tropical North Queensland, 4-6 September 2020.

Anything with a turn of speed is welcome as long as it’s mechanically sound and looks the part.

Base tour price - $2200 inc GST per vehicle

Rallye places are strictly limited to 30 vehicles; book ASAP to avoid disappointment!
