Strong Entries for Shannons SpeedSeries Round 5 at Queensland Raceway
The Shannons SpeedSeries returns this weekend for its fifth round of 2024, the EVENTelec Race Queensland held at Ipswich’s Queensland Raceway.
The three-day event features seven national-level race categories with Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, Trico Trans Am Series, Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered By AWS, Monochrome GT4 Australia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, Giti Australian Formula Open and Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia (TGRA) Scholarship Series.
This weekend marks TGRA Scholarship Series’ maiden appearance on the Shannons SpeedSeries support card.
Following a highly energised event at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in South Australia, TCR Australia promises another exciting three races around the tight Queensland Raceway layout with 13 cars entered.
Privateer Audi driver, Zac Soutar, heads into this weekend as series leader thanks to his consistent performances in 2024, the #110 Tufflift Racing entry has a 21-point margin over Josh Buchan who is marching to make it back-to-back series titles in the #1 Hyundai i30 Sedan N TCR.
Jordan Cox will make history as the first driver to compete in both TCR Australia and Trans Am Australia in the same weekend.
Racing his usual #33 Schaeffler Peugeot in TCR, Cox will be busy as he navigates back-to-back sessions in a tight schedule, hopping out of the Peugeot and straight into a Hollinger Engineering Camaro Trans Am.
Another notable addition for Trans Am is Brett Holdsworth, the Gold Coast based driver returning behind the wheel of a Garry Rogers Motorsport prepared Mustang Trans Am, vacated by Tim Slade.
Defending Trans Am Series winner, James Moffat, heads into this weekend as the points tally leader, with a 41-point buffer over James Golding and Todd Hazelwood who share second place..
Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS continues to strengthen its momentum in season 2024, with 18-entries confirmed for Race Queensland.

A few weeks ago, Arise Racing GT brought their two Ferrari 296 GT3s to Queensland Raceway from Perth to log crucial testing kilometres, searching for any performance advantage they can gain with Chaz Mostert and Liam Talbot heading into this weekend on top of the points ladder.
Off the back of victory at the last round at Tailem Bend, Brad Schumacher and Will Brown will be out to spoil the Ferrari party, as well as Triple Eight Race Engineering’s duo of Peter Hackett and Declan Fraser who will have the home turf advantage in their Mercedes AMG GT3.
GT4 Australia boasts 16-entries, as well as its first three-hour endurance race of the season on Saturday morning.
Aaron Seton and Nash Morris have been drafted in for co-driving duties for the round, as well as Shannons Ambassador, John Bowe, who returns to the driver’s seat in the BMW he shares with Jacob Lawrence, the latter scoring class victory in his last outing at Tailem Bend.

Giti Australian Formula Open returns with Ryan McMillan leading the points heading into its fifth round of the year. Miles Bromley and Kyle Evans will be McMillan’s main rivals at Queensland Raceway, Bromley and Evans 20 and 36 points adrift of P1 respectively.
