Shannons Motorsport Australia Championship: Sandown Raceway - Free Ticket Offer
A jam packed schedule has been confirmed for the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships’ official return to Sandown International Raceway next month.
Taking place midway through next month, the event will be spread over three days with more than 16 hours of track time locked in for the six participating categories.
Making up the list of categories on show are the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia Series, Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series, Turtle Wax Trans Am Series, Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Australian Production Cars and Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters (TCM).

Starting with the biggest day on Friday, there will be six hours of racing across the day with all six categories getting valuable practice sessions in, while TCM, Porsche and Production Cars get qualifying underway in the late afternoon.
On Saturday morning, the remaining three categories complete their qualifying sessions before the real business of racing gets underway for the rest of the weekend.
Four of the six competing categories will have three races spread over the Saturday and Sunday, while the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS (Motorsport Australia GT Championship) will have one one-hour races on both Saturday and Sunday.
As usual, TCM will have four races over the course of the event with its Trophy Race to kick things off on Saturday morning and its first official race to run on Saturday afternoon, before the remaining two races are run on Sunday.
Both Porsche and Production Cars will have two sprint races on Saturday before holding their endurance races on Sunday morning – a 42-lap outing is marked for Production Cars and a 35-lap race for Porsche.
Fans wanting to attend the event can purchase tickets via motorsporttickets.com.au, while those unable to make it can tune in via Stan Sport’s Speed Series broadcast.
For those fans hoping to watch their favourite categories live, the action on Friday begins from 9:10am AEST and Saturday at 9:25am with both days to wrap up at 5:30pm AEST. Sunday being the shortest day kicks off at 9:15am and concludes at 4:40pm.
Individuals wanting to tune into the Stan Sport broadcast can do so from 10:30am AEST on Saturday and 11:00am on Sunday with the broadcast to end at 5:00pm each day.
Motorsport Australia’s Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations, Michael Smith was pleased with a schedule that was favourable for all categories, officials and fans.
“It’s been quite some time since the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships has had an official round at Sandown and we’re very excited to get to the track,” Smith said.
“To have all six categories happy with their schedules and getting a good amount of track time is a fantastic result for all stakeholders involved with the Championships.
“Fans are also the big winners here with the later starts and earlier finishes allowing them every opportunity to attend and watch every race without missing out.
“With September being one of the best times of year in Melbourne, we hope to see many people make it out to Sandown where they will be treated to lots of entertainment.”
Fans are being encouraged to pre-purchase their tickets to avoid queues at the gates and all tickets will provide access to the paddock and all areas of the circuit.
