Close to 600 patrons embraced the sunshine and attended our inaugural Auto Caffeine event of 2024, at Shannons Melbourne Showroom in Heatherton on the 3rd of February.
Car and motor racing enthusiasts were treated to a preview of this year’s Shannons SpeedSeries, unveiled in collaboration with Motorsport Australia.
The showroom displayed a special mix of road and racing machinery, headlined by vehicles from the Shannons SpeedSeries, including TCR, Trans Am, Formula Open, Australian GT and GT4, along with other significant cars from historic Rally, Drag and World Time Attack.
A roster of big names of Australian motorsport made an appearance at the event to meet and greet the public, with Shannons ambassador and Porsche Carrera Cup star Dale Wood, Supercars and 2024 Trans Am competitor Todd Hazelwood and Peugeot TCR racer Ben Bargwanna. Plus, James Moffat’s Valvoline Mustang for 2024 was unveiled.
The Shannons Super Rig was also a drawcard parked in the Shannons Showroom as it stopped by the first Auto Caffeine of 2024 as part of its event journey across Australia. Motorsport Australia supplied two specialised racing simulators from their partner Next Level Racing, which kept the public chasing the fastest laps throughout the morning around Sandown Raceway ahead of next weekend’s SpeedSeries Round 1 at the historic venue.
The carpark was packed full of enthusiasts’ rare and special road cars offering plenty of variety, from modern performance vehicles all the way to customised classics, while The Toasty Truck made a welcome addition to the event serving coffees and breakfast.
Some notable vehicles made appearances, including two of Australia’s RWB Porsche’s, the WRX MINI that is a social media hit, while other notable appearances included 1 of 10 Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition coupes, a Manthey Racing enhanced Porsche GT3 RS, a genuine RS1800 Ford Escort and a rare Caterham.
Shannons also featured the M Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo that is set to take on the Bathurst 12 hour with Supercars star Jack LeBrocq and GT race winner Glen Wood in its striking chrome and blue livery alongside Bobby Zagame’s personal Praga R1T from Praga Australia and New Zealand.
Shannons SpeedSeries kicks off at Sandown Raceway this weekend (February 9 – 11) and is the first of nine rounds scheduled Australia-wide.
