In the wake of the recent COVID cluster in SA, organisers of the 2020 Shannons Adelaide Rally have made the difficult decision to postpone the event until March 2021, but there are silver linings.

Now scheduled for 24-27 March, the event nestles nicely between the 2021 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne and the Easter break. Furthermore, some aspects of the Adelaide Rally that were cancelled due to COVID-related social distancing may yet well return.

Media Liaison Noel Probert is optimistic, “The general direction national wide has been pretty promising,” he says of the Coronavirus emergency. “So, we’re hoping we can embrace the popular community aspects of the event even more than we could have if it had run in November.”

Crucially, this may mean the return of the Gouger Street Party, giving the public the chance to check out the cars and rub socially responsible shoulders with the drivers after all.

With average daily temperatures in the mid-20s and daylight savings still in play, an autumnal rally won’t look and feel overly different to the original, Spring-scheduled event. Even the road closures and other logistics were able to be lifted almost verbatim from November’s postponed rally.

Stay tuned to the Adelaide Rally website or Shannons Club for more details closer to the event. We’re once again proud to support the 2020 Adelaide Rally, even if it’s in 2021.
