The Melbourne International Motor Show - Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre 1 -10 July.

This year's Australian International Motor Show promises to be the largest-ever event held under this title.
The new event is the result of the organisers of the motor shows in Melbourne, the Victorian Automobile Chamber of commerce (VACC), and the Sydney, Federal Chamber of Automotive industries (FCAI), joining forces to create one annual show that will alternate between the two locations each year. This year's event takes place from 1 to 10 July at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

It is the first major motor show in Melbourne for more than two years. The Show promises to be the biggest in Melbourne in many years, with exhibitors committing to a larger presence and promising to reveal a host of new models and concept cars.

AIMS event director Russ Tyrie believes Melbournians will come out in force to get their first taste of motor show glitz since the beginning of 2009.

"The motor show has been a traditional, iconic event in Melbourne for more than 80 years, and I'm expecting that after a two year absence, there will be strong enthusiasm for checking out the latest automotive trends and technologies on Show, "Mr Tyrie said.

SHANNONS AUCTIONS WILL BE PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW

The Shannons Motor Show Auction has been an integral part of Motor Shows in Melbourne since 1996 and will hold their 16th Motor Show Auction on Sunday 10 July at 2.30pm.

For the entire week of the International Motor Show (1-10 July) all auction vehicles will be on display on the concourse for free public viewing - always a must see before you go into the show or after.

To support the International Motor Show Shannons will auction over 50 of Australia's best classic and collectable cars and motorcycles which are sure to attract interest across Australia and overseas. Automotive memorabilia and numerical number plates will also feature on the auction list, to go under the hammer on July 10.

Shannons Auction Manager Christophe Boribon said that Melbourne has always embraced the Motor Show and now, with only the one show every two years, it is sure to be a significant week in Melbourne and the Shannons auction one of the many highlights.
