Clay Richards': Round 5 Australian Formula Ford

Finally back in the Formula Ford this weekend for the 6th round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship held at The Bend Motorsport Park. We missed the previous round in Queensland so I’m really keen to get back into the car and give it 100 percent.
We have got practice on Friday, Qualifying and race 1 on Saturday and two races on Sunday. Unfortunately there won’t be any live streaming but there will be live timing on Natsoft Race Results.
New Zealand

Last week Dad and I flew across the ditch to New Zealand for the last Supercars race weekend at Pukekoe Motorsport Park. I also had the opportunity to test in one of the the Toyota Racing Series open wheeler cars around Hampton Downs. The Toyota Racing Series or TRS for short is one of the only FIA recognised open wheeler categories outside of Europe and America.
The TRS series takes place in the summer over five weeks. The category has had big names like Lando Norris, Lance Stroll and Liam Lawson who’ve previously raced in the series. The car has more aerodynamics and slick tyres which provides a lot of grip.

Through out the day I did 140 laps around Hampton Downs which turned out to be around 400km in total. Safe to say I was buggered by the end of the day. It was great to jump into something different and experience what it was like to drive something I wasn’t used to.

Dad and I were again off to another race meeting although this time I wasn’t the one who was driving and instead it was Dad driving and I was on the tools.
Dad was competing in the Historic Touring Car series in a Nissan Primera held at Pukekoe Motorsport Park as a support category for the Supercars Championship. The Nissan Primera was a very similar car Dad used to race back in the mid 90s before Dad entered the Supercars Championship himself.
Dad had a great weekend even after suffering from a driveshaft issue in practice which caused him to miss Qualifying and had to start from the back of the grid. Across three races Dad went from 30th to 4th.
