• 24 black and white ‘heritage’ plates, most with no reserve

• Top 3-digit plates expected to bring $100,000-plus

• 35 vehicle lots, headed by boxer Kostya Tszyu’s Bentley

Motoring enthusiasts and collectors are expected to invest more than $1 million on ‘heritage’ black and white numeric number plates at Shannons upcoming Sydney Autumn Classic Auction on Monday, March 2.

A total of 24 NSW car number plates – 23 put to auction by the NSW Roads and Maritime Services – will be offered as the first lots of the Auction, which commences at 7pm in Shannons St.Leonards showroom.

The Auction lotting list includes six, highly-prized three-digit plates; 11 four-digit; six five-digit and a lone six-digital plate.

All but the six, three-digit plates will be offered with ‘no reserve’.

The six triple-digit black and white Heritage number plates in Shannons Sydney Autumn Auction on March 2 are each expected to sell for up to $100,000.

The three-digit place are headed by the numbers ‘209’, '217’, ‘219’ and ‘226’, each of which is expected to sell in the $85,000-$100,000 range.

The 11 four-digit Heritage number plates in Shannons Sydney Autumn Auction on March 2 are all being offered with ‘no reserve’.

The top four-digit plates, ‘1994’, ‘8882’ and ‘8898’ are slated to sell in the $30,000-$36,000 range – the latter two because of their ‘lucky number’ significance to many Asian buyers.

The six, five-digit Heritage number plates in Shannons Sydney Autumn Auction on March 2 are amongst a total of 24 plates with an expected sale value of more than $1 million.

Shannons expect the most desirable five-digit plates – ‘30003’, ‘22221’ and ‘13333’ to sell for $22,000-$28,000 because of their appealing numeric order, while the lone six-digit plate, ‘163327’ put to auction by a private seller, has a guiding range of $10,000-15,000.

If all the number plates sell for their high estimates, their sale alone will produce a $1.134 million auction result.

From past experience in its similar number plate sales, Shannons believe the result could easily exceed that figure, as number plates continue their proven investment value.

To make the auction even more attractive to potential investors, the RMS is waiving the usual transfer fee applicable to all its plates, which represents a saving of up to $1,839 for a three-digit plate.

In addition to the number plates, Shannons also have 35 special cars and motorcycles in the March 2 sale.

This 2001 Bentley Arnage Red Label Saloon owned by champion Aussie boxing legend Kostya Tszyu is expected to sell for $95,000-$120,000 at Shannons Sydney Autumn Auction on March 2.

Standout lots include a very low kilometre 2001 Bentley Arnage Red Label Saloon owned by champion Aussie boxing legend Kostya Tszyu.

With just 43,000km covered from new and beautifully presented, inside and out, the Bentley is expected to sell in the $95,000-$120,000 range.

A 1985 Bentley Eight Saloon and a 1949 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn are amongst other vehicles in the auction.

Citroen enthusiasts will be excited by the thought of three sought-after models going under the hammer, topped by a now very rare 1967 2CV AK400 ‘Camionette’ van, while Porsche enthusiasts will find two classic 911 models on the auction list – a rally-prepared 1971 911T and a very attractive 1987 Carrera 3.2.
