• Shannons Online Bidding now available

• No fee to participate from anywhere in the world

• All auction lots now opened to a global audience

Car enthusiasts around the world will be able to follow Monday’s (May 26) Shannons Sydney Late Autumn Classic Auction on their computer and, if pre- registered, will be able bid for all 46 vehicle and 19 automobilia lots on offer.

In a major step for Australian Classic vehicle auctions, Shannons Online Bidding will allow anyone with an ADSL2 Broadband connection and a Flash enabled computer to participate in the auction in real time.

Traditional Floor, Absentee and Telephone bidding will continue to be available, however the Online bidding feature allows enthusiasts to view the auction live from anywhere in Australia, or overseas.

Shannons National Auction Manager Christophe Boribon, said the introduction of online auction bidding was a result of increased demand from regional and overseas enthusiasts.

"Since 1981 when we pioneered the concept of auctions for veteran, vintage and collectible vehicles and automotive memorabilia, Shannons has been the major Australian marketplace for enthusiasts," he said.

"However these vehicles now sell in an increasingly global market and in recent years we have seen a strong increase in telephone bidding from enthusiasts in all parts of Australia and overseas.

"Online bidding is the next dimension. It opens up the excitement and immediacy of the Shannons auction process to everyone and gives our vendors a true International marketplace for their special vehicle, or collectable automotive item."

Online bidders must pre-register at shannons.com.au/onlinebidding at least 24 hours prior to the auction. Once approved, they will be able to login and view a live stream of the auction and place bids.
