Hot lots at Shannons Sydney Winter Auction

What’s hot on Monday (August 13):

This 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 2 Coupe equipped with the optional Borg Warner automatic transmission is one of four quick Jaguars in Monday’s Shannons Sydney Winter Auction.

Four desirable Jaguars are on the prowl, headed by a very well-presented 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 2 Coupe equipped with the optional Borg Warner automatic transmission in everyday driveable condition ($80,000-$95,000).

Other quick cats are an Australian-delivered 1989 Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible with an impressive receipt file totalling in excess of $85,000 spent on improvements since 1998 ($45,000-$55,000); a Brysons-delivered Jaguar MK II 3.8 manual presented in lovely condition with 99,403 miles showing on its odometer at the time of cataloguing ($40,000-$50,000); and a rare 1968 British Kougar Sports Roadster (one of just 250 built) fitted with a 4.2-litre Jaguar engine ($45,000-$55,000).

This now-collectible 1981 Ford XD Falcon GL ‘Police Pursuit’ Sedan is expected to sell in the $35,000-$45,000 range.

Hot ticket Australian Muscle Cars in Monday’s auction include a 1974 Holden LH Torana SL/R 5000 Sedan coming to auction in great condition from long-term ownership ($95,000-$125,000); a very desirable four-speed manual gearbox 1974 XB Falcon GT with just 77,966 miles showing on its odometer ($70,000-$80,000); a one-owner 1973 Ford XA Superbird Hardtop ($45,000-$50,000); a ow-collectible 1981 Ford XD Falcon GL ‘Police Pursuit’ Sedan ($35,000-$45,000); and a desirable ‘Hemi Orange’ 1972 Chrysler VH Valiant Charger XL Coupe equipped with the rare factory four-speed manual option ($45,000-$55,000).

This seriously cool factory right hand drive 1951 Willys Overland 4x2 Station Wagon is expected to sell in the $28,000-$38,000 range.

Two very different American ‘greats’ from the 1950s will also be crossing the Shannons auction block on Monday – a ‘barn find’ 1958 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe De Ville, fresh from long-term storage (‘no reserve’, $25,000-$30,000) and a rare and seriously cool factory right hand drive 1951 Willys Overland 4x2 Station Wagon with an interesting New Zealand history ($28,000-$38,000).

This previously-restored 1927 Rolls-Royce Twenty with period coachwork s expected to bring $70,000-$80,000.

British pomp is represented in the auction by two early Rolls-Royce models – a previously-restored 1927 Rolls-Royce Twenty with period coachwork ($70,000-$80,000) and a 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP 'Barker' Saloon in generally good driveable condition, but still requiring cosmetic restoration (‘no reserve’ $30,000-$40,000).

Meanwhile, for Aston Martin enthusiasts, there is a stunning and superbly restored 1978 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India’ coupe ($230,000-$250,000).

11 sought-after early New South Wales numerical number plates will also be featured in the auction, including three triple-digit black and white plates ‘138’ ($150,000-$200,000), '785’ and ‘871’ (both $110,000-$150,000), while for someone turning 66 this year there is the perfect present – the plate ‘1952’ ($70,000-$90,000).

A total of 50 Classic cars and motorcycles and 21 memorabilia lots will go under the hammer at Shannons Reserve Road, St.Leonards showroom on Monday from 7.00pm, with viewing of all lots this weekend from 9am-4pm tomorrow (Saturday) and 10am-4pm Sunday.
