Many classic vehicle enthusiasts have been quick to confirm their interest in lots in Shannons current timed, online Spring auction with less than 24 hours of the week-long auction to run, with most of the 246 automotive memorabilia, number plate, motorcycle and vehicle lots now ‘on the market’.
As this release went out, some of the rarest and most desirable lots have yet to meet their reserve prices, leaving the field open for enthusiasts to pounce.

The highest price offered for any lot to date has been the $420,000 for the Victorian black and white Heritage number plate ‘489’, while of the early Queensland plates, $101,500 has been bid for each of ‘Q921’ and ‘Q360’.
Amongst the 33 items of automotive memorabilia, the top bid to date has been $2,300 for a classic Gilbarco petrol pump in red Shell liver, complete with its original glass top.
The highest bid for any of the 38 classic motorcycles and scooters in the auction is $50,500 for a fully-restored 750cc 1928 Indian Type 101 Scout that comes to auction in beautiful condition.
Leading the 150 vehicles dating from circa-1915 to 2004 is the $102,500 bid for a 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 coupe that is offered with ‘no reserve’, while $70,000 has been offered for an brutal 2004 Bentley Continental W12 Coupe fitted with a 6.0 litre twin turbocharged W12 engine.
Notable Pre-War classics yet to realise their potential include a magnificent 1934 Packard 1107 Dietrich Convertible Victoria that formerly was part of the collection of the late Robert Holmes a Court and is expected to be one of the auction’s top sellers at $350,000-$400,000. It currently sits close to its reserve price at $303,500.
Also still to realise its full potential is a 1971 Ford Falcon XY GT sedan for which bidding is currently at $220,500 – very close to its reserve– but is expected to sell for up to $250,000.
The timed online auction continues until tomorrow evening, November 15, with bidding on all lots closing progressively from 6.00pm AEST.
