• Two ultra-collectible early Indians

• Super-rare, one family-owned ‘34 Harley-Davidson

• Range of classic dirt bikes

• Road and off-road racers

Shannons have a great selection of very desirable motorcycles crossing the block at its July 17 Melbourne Winter Auction, including two ultra-collectible Indians and a superb one family owned Australian-delivered 1934 Harley-Davidson 750cc.
Coming from a small private Victorian collection, this highly-collectible circa-1919 Indian Power Plus 1000cc V-Twin is expected to sell in the $45,000-$55,000 range.
Wearing rare, period-style white tyres, the standout of the two-wheelers is a circa-1919 Indian Power Plus 1000cc V-Twin Solo coming to auction from a private collection.

One of only a handful of early Indian motorcycles in Australia, this fine example of Indian’s legendary Powerplus V-twin motorcycle has evidently been well restored at some stage, although not much history is available of prior ownership at the time of cataloguing.

The motorcycle was imported into Australia in May 2014 and has since formed part of a small private collection based in Victoria.

Because of its condition and international collectability, Shannons conservatively expect this early Indian to sell in the $45,000-$55,000 range.
This stunning, mechanically refurbished 1948 Indian Chief 1200 motorcycle is expected to sell in the $35,000-$45,000 range
Another standout for Indian collectors is a stunning 1948 Indian Chief 1200 motorcycle that has been mechanically refurbished and will be sold with a quantity of period literature, including hard-to-find 1944-1948 Parts Catalogue and an Indian Eighty Chief Repair & Overhaul Supplement.

Currently owned by a West Australian enthusiast, this magnificent Indian Chief had a substantial amount of mechanical work carried out in its engine and gearbox in March this year and is offered in ‘ready-to-ride-and condition.

Shannons believe the Indian would be ideal for rallies or club runs and expect it to sell in the $35,000-$45,000 range.
This one-family-owned 1934 Harley-Davidson 34R 750cc V-Twin motorcycle, presented in magnificent restored condition is expected to sell in the $35,000 - $45,000 range.
Just as exciting for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts and collectors is the unique opportunity to purchase a one-family-owned 1934 Harley-Davidson 34R 750cc V-Twin motorcycle, presented in magnificent restored condition – complete with original documents from the then-West Australian dealer, Mortlock Bros. Ltd. and copies of period photographs. It is expected to sell in the $35,000 - $45,000 range.

Classic racing bike enthusiasts have a wonderful circa-1966 Bultaco TSS 250cc and a circa-1969 Yamaha TD2 250cc to cheer for.

Formerly owned by Speedway racer Alan Landers, this fabulous little Bultaco TSS remained in his possession until recently joining the current owner’s extensive motorcycle collection.

Surviving very much as raced, the bike is a liquid-cooled example of the desirable TSS 250cc production racer and features Akront alloy rims, a Magura throttle, steering damper and full race fairings. It is expected to sell in the $12,000 - $16,000 range.

The 1969 Yamaha is an affordable, period racer incorporating some TD2 parts, that with a little work could be back on the track.

Offered in unrestored but complete condition and an ideal restoration project, the Yamaha has all the right bits including Magura clip-on bars, a Domino throttle mechanism, D.I.D alloy wheels and a twin leading shoe DS7 front brake. It is expected to bring $6,000-$9,000.

Two interesting Classic road bikes in the auction is a beautifully-restored 1974 Yamaha RD350 Twin that is being offered with ‘no reserve’ and is expected to bring $5,000 - $7,000 and a 1972 Honda XL250 Motorsport ($9,000-$11,000).

The Classic dirt bikes on offer are topped by a very original Honda CR250R Elsinore that has survived in ‘time-warp’ condition, right down to its original front and rear tyres.

One of the all-time Classic dirt bikes, Shannons believe the Honda would make a wonderful display piece in any garage or be a fabulous vintage MX racer at its estimated selling range of $6,000-$8,000.

Other Vintage MX dirt bikes in the auction are a 1973 Yamaha SC500 YZ ($4,000-$6,000), a circa 1981 Yamaha YZ250 ($4,000-$6,000) and a 1974 Yamaha YZ250B 250cc ($6,000 - $9,000).
