I want to adopt out my 1971 beetle to a Shannons club member. I have no space to house her anymore and I am also not yet ready to sell. What I do want to do is keep paying club rego and insurance and have a nice member house her in their garage where they will be the nominated driver and use it for whatever they want until I work out what to do with her.
The commitment is about 6 months at least.
I am flexible but my preference is that the member must be:
1) At least 25 years or over
2) able to Garage the car, not park it in a driveway or in the street
3) Be part of a classic car club and drives a car with historical plates
4) Within a reasonable distance of me (I live in Frankston, VIC) so let's say an hours drive
5) drive the vehicle at least once a fortnight ( or as often as they wan!t) so it can stay healthy
6) Willing to provide a basic level of care (eg, check/change oil, brakes, wash it, pay for petrol and valve saver fluid)
7) fill in the log book and drive to club plate rules
I will provide for all the other costs like major service items, rego, insurance and repairs if required.
Please call / email me with expressions of interest.
Great car Geoff.... have you thought of asking a VW dealer near you if they can look after your baby for a while? I am sure a VW dealer would love to display it in their showroom...
A friend of mine did that with an FJ when he moved.... the car was in pride of place in a local dealership for almost a year.....
Maybe a museum near you could use it as an exhibit for a while?Just thinking out loud....

No I didn't think of that - I'll make some enquiries - I'd still prefer it in a garage somewhere for a family that are "starting out" in the hobby.
Cheers,
Jeff
