Restoring a hq ls monaro

  • Hi. I have an xy ute to restore. Build date 3/72 . K code . Came out of the factory with 351, top loader , 9 inch . Also hi back bucket seats and colom ignition. All matching numbers etc . My father had it from new and pasted away a couple of years ago. After any information on how rare it is how many were built etc values etc

    I have 331 XY 351 K-code utes built (205 manual, 126 auto). Of course not many survive, and being one family ownership from new takes its value above most IMO - not hard to imagine over $40k restored well, perhaps a fair bit over, even if I don't follow the values closely.

    if it is in reasonable condition i would suspect it would be worth way more than $40k, column ignition adr started in 1/1/1972 so that adds to its rarity, production stopped in october 1972 (and the 4wd's commenced in nov 72)
    .
    inerestingly xa utes were being produced from june 72, so maybe not many xy's were sold after that
