Victoria Park becomes Classic Car Central for 2 days in October 2015 as the Adelaide Parklands venue is transformed into the hub for the coming together of two significant motorsport events, both with a nostalgic theme.
The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a virtual ???????????museum-in-motion???????????. A three-day festival that draws upon South Australia???????????s rich motorsport history and celebrates and re-enacts motorsport competition of a by-gone era. Friday 16th and Saturday 17th will see the Shannons Classic Adelaide Rally spirit as the cars use Victoria Park as the base for each day of the rally before heading to the Hills and Fleurieu to compete. On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th Victoria Park comes alive to the sights and sounds of Grand Prix cars and support categories on a section of the original Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix Circuit in the East Parklands.
The Victoria Park Sprint is rounded out with a diverse field of historic touring cars, sports cars and classic motorcycles that are welcome to enter as well as displays from some of the greatest classic cars from across the years as well as selected modern categories.
Many of the vehicles that you will see in the "Star Car" categories have a colourful story to tell. Approximately 12 Grand Prix cars have been sourced to attend the Adelaide Motorsport Festival in 2015 including cars driven by Ayrton Senna, Gerhard Berger, Brabham and Jones
The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is true and authentic to South Australia???????????s rich motor racing heritage whilst creating new event experiences with relevance and meaning to the Adelaide motor racing enthusiast.
Both competitors and spectators are encouraged to dress up in period-costume on the Sunday, 18th October 2015. This will not only help portray an accurate re-creation of motorsport of the past, you might even win a prize for best dressed on the day!
UPDATE:
The festival has two distinct elements. Firstly the Victoria Park Sprint which could be likened to a Grand Prix Revival. Some 240 cars have already entered in 20 categories that include Group A and C , to Historic Sports cars and of course the F1 Category. A sample of some of the Adelaide Era F1 Cars attending are:

With a 14 car grid and drivers racing the clock, the action will replicate Adelaide??s Golden Era of Formula one. In its first year as a two day format with the backing of the South Australian Tourism Commission, the festival has already attracted a number of overseas entrants, a full field and crowds are expected to exceed 20,000 per day.
Billed as 3 days of high octane charged festivities, spectators will also be blown away to see the F1??s drive through the city under police escort to the Gouger Street Party at 5:30pm on Friday 16th. Its here that the F1??s mix it with the other side of the Festival, the 180 cars entered in the Shannons Classic Adelaide Rally which will also be on display as the city parties like it did 30 years ago at the first Formula 1 Grand Prix in Adelaide in 1985.
