History
Bought the B in November 2018 after looking around for about 6 months. Spent a few bucks on some mechanicals.
Great to get out and about in it on a sunny day.
The following are notes from the previous owner; (The bloke I bought the B off)
This MGB belonged to my Dad, who had it for approx. 20 years. He took it off the road to restore, removing the engine and interior before shipping it off to a panel beater to have all of the rust cut out, new sills etc installed and then resprayed in Mazda MX5 red.
This was about 12 years ago, and unfortunately due to deteriorating health, he never it back on the road.
Dad passed away 2 years ago and I inherited the B, and so I set about finishing her off. The body was shipped to MG Workshops in Notting Hill, where Andrew reassembled the doors and windows, installed a new windscreen, installed a new wiring harness and resprayed the dashboard in crinkle finish.
Whilst that happened, I purchased a total new interior from Mirror Interiors in the UK, including leather seats. (never an option on the originals!) Grant from Grant White interiors helped me install this.
The original engine was no good, so Andrew also supplied and installed a new 1.8, motor, with a new alternator, new heater box, electronic ignition, new clutch etc. The engine has a slightly worked head so its perfect for a daily driver, but has a great note and bark to it.
Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed, as was the grill components...
At this stage in the build I was planning on keeping her for myself so I was choosing the best I could. However circumstances change and a new toy is demanding funds So the MG has to go.
I’ve had the wire wheels bead blasted back to as-new condition and 5 new tyres put on.
The only thing I never got to do was replace the fold-away hood; The existing hood is in fairly good condition, but just looks a bit tatty compared to the rest of the car. There is also a tonneau cover that has been customised to fit around the roll bar.
