History
Built in Broadmeadow in April 1965 - delivered as a white hardtop with blue tu-tone interior fitted with optional rubber mats. Originally a super pursuit engine with a 3 speed column manual in Futura specification.
Purchased as a running shell in early 1990s by a Brisbane based guy who stripped, repaired and rebuilt the car to its current specification - and won many trophies with the car whilst in his possession.
The car passed through an unknown number of hands before being purchased by an Englishman who bought and sold cars as a hobby in Sydney in 1994. He shipped the car to the UK where it sat in storage for the best part of 12 months without use.
I came across the car when it was put up for sale in 1995 and I was in the UK for work. I purchased the car and drove it back to Ireland where I was living. I carried out a few small jobs to tidy the car up and then used it during the summer months until I moved back to Sydney in 2011 - bringing the Falcon home again.
I now use the car at weekends or whenever I get the chance to enjoy an outing - she's still going strong!
2012 - lots of crusing early in the year before some rest while my Holley issues were sorted, a couple of club runs later all seems better. Getting ready for a run to Wollongong or Newcastle to test a longer outing.
Modifications
The engine was upgraded with a rebuilt and modified unit from an XY Falcon - it was a 221 and is now somewhere between that and a 250 cid... It has a 2V head with a 320 Holley and tubular headers with a twin sports system.
The transmission is a cast iron Celica 5 speed unit with a Dellow bell housing.
The brakes have been upgraded to front discs with a remote booster.
The interior has been upgraded with Stratos bucket seats and a full retrim to suit the new colour scheme.
There are many nice touches that prove you can do things right!
