History
The VN SS Group A introduced several firsts for an Australian produced car. It featured a special 17 inch wheel and tyre combination with 45 profile tyres. The engine was completely redeveloped and necessitated an extra strength manual gearbox and ZF or Germany developed the ZR1 Corvette - 6 speed for this application. Despite a theoretical maximum of close to 400km/h, the 6th ratio is too tall for the 215kW V8 to break any high speed records. The new Group A engine block was given a Chevrolet bell housing bolt pattern along with a high torque "AP racing" clutch. The initial production run was set at 500 but was stopped at 302.
