History
1923 Dodge Brothers Tourer
Known History
Our earliest knowledge of the 1923 Dodge is that it was owned by Mr Charles & Mrs Myra McCulloch of “Alvira” Adlephi Road Whitemore.
The Tourer was passed down to a son Lloyd McCulloch who later sold it to his neighbour Donald Hingston. Some years later it was sold to Zenith Pearn just a few miles away at Hagley Station Lane where it sat for many years.
Zen sold it to Kelvin Page, also of Whitmore, in 2002. The restoration began shortly after with new tyres, chrome work, minor rust repair in cowl and usual dismantling. The vehicle has not been running and it was found to have a scored bore from a loose gudgeon pin. The motor was sent to Tunemaster at Ulverston and reconditioned. Painting began, upholstery for seats and door panels sewn. New Windscreen glass procured, exhaust system, magneto tested and many minor items repaired or replaced. Rear mudguards proved a headache as they has rusted where they fitted under the body and the left guard front section replaced as it was used as a brake at some point. At that point restoration stalled and in 2021 it was sold to an eager Dodge enthusiast, Damien Giustini of Alison Court Westbury, who assembled whatever was dismantled replaced some wheel bearings and retimed the engine to find that after the second turn of the motor it fired and started.
