History
My Kombi was originally owned by the Australian Army and started out as a 9 seat micro bus before it ended up in a state of disrepair.
After a fair bit trickery, the Kombi was eventually reborn as 5 seat camper van. (3 seats in front and 2 in the rear)
Modifications
The Kombi has obviously been modified from original, the most noticeable being the camper conversion.
The roof was cut and modified to accept a pop-top canopy.
The interior was then completely stripped out and a set of custom cupboards and a rock and roll 2 person seat (ADR compliant) was fitted to the rear. The seat quickly lifts and folds converting to a Queen size bed.
The rear inside area of the Kombi is fitted with 6 "touch" downlights which have also have individual dimming capabilities.
This model Kombi was factory produced with an 1800cc engine, however the Army specifically ordered it with a 1600cc motor. So as to keep all vehicle numbers original and matching, I have completely rebuilt the original 1600 motor as opposed to fitting an exchange 1800 one.
The front dash of the vehicle was removed and stripped, with the dashboard itself then being completely wrapped / upholstered in the same material as the door trims and seats.
The front seats are still the original factory fitted seats, but have been rebuilt and reupholstered.
The Kombi has also been fitted with a dual battery set up son s to allow for isolating batteries when camping.
