This completely numbers matching 1980 Corvette is in awesome driver condition. This car has the extremely rare and highly desirable optional 4-Speed manual transmission. It is finished in the beautiful color combination of Black over Red Leather. This is the original and correct color scheme, verified by the trim tag pictured. Black/Red is one of the hottest color schemes for a Corvette right now and this combination is particularly attractive. The mileage is indicated as "Actual". Overall this Corvette is in magnificent condition. The 4-speed transmission makes this car particularly rare and highly desirable. Numbers matching and originality are extremely important in Corvette pricing, and as you can see this car very original and correct. In addition, this car is also optioned with a very rare and desirable color combination. The value of the late C3 body style cars has gone up dramatically in the past few years. They are all solid investments for a collector. Someone could drive and enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price.
Modifications
Exterior
The Black exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. The underside of the front end, a very fragile part of the car, is in good condition as evidenced by the photos. This Corvette is equipped with aluminum wheels, which still retain a very nice finish. There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos. There are some small spots and blemishes that were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from five or ten feet away. The tires appear to have about 80% tread left. The glass t-tops operate properly and are structurally sound, but the right top has a visible crack and both tops have trim in the corner. The crack is barely noticeable from the outside as once can see in the photos, but is visible from the inside looking up.
Interior
The Red Leather interior of the Corvette is also in fantastic condition. The seats look brilliant and literally brand new with no rips, tears, or split seams. They are not worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is in good condition with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The cargo cover is not ripped or torn and operates properly. The jack and jack handle are still present and correctly stowed in the storage compartment. This car has no aroma of cigarette smoke whatsoever.
Mechanical
This car is in good mechanical condition. It is a wonderful driver that is feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There are no issues that immediately affect the drivability of the car. The brakes are responsive. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. This Corvette starts right away every time, idles well, and runs well. As with most older carbureted vehicles, this car is cold blooded. The engine compartment is beautifully detailed as one can see in the photos. The clutch feels good. The transmission does make some noise, most noticeably in second and third gear. The shifter works okay and is totally functional, but it seems like it could use some overall adjustment and also contacts the front edge of the center console. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast. The horn works as do the headlights, fan for the heater and a/c, wipers (although the switch is very touchy), all interior and exterior lights, and power windows. The parking brake is weak. The only item I am aware of on the car that does not work is the a/c. The compressor is free and not locked up so the system most likely needs to be recharged. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-speed transmission and the t-tops out on a beautiful day.
