History
Hurst performance research and Oldsmobile teamed up in 1968 to produce the limited edition Hurst/Olds .
The car you see here is the 1969 version.
The cars were assembled on Oldsmobiles lansing Michigan production line as a no badge plain white cutlass. They were then shipped to Demmer engineering for the transformation into a Hurst/Olds and then sold via the Oldsmobile dealership.
Up until 1970 GM had a engine size limit of 400ci for all mid sized cars. All divisions had a larger engines for use in the full size cars. The 1968 and 69 H/O were fitted with the Olds 455ci.
Oldsmobile skirted around the size limit rule by telling GM officials that Hurst fitted the 455 but it was actually fitted by Oldsmobile in the assembly plant .
The Hurst package was a $ 650 extra. For this buyers received the 455 ci engine, 15 inch Olds wheels, functional hood scoop, rear wing, racing mirrors, hurst dual gate shifter and unique firefrost gold stripes with black pin striping .
In 1969, 912 Hurst/Olds were produced and it's believed only 450- 500 are still in existence today .
Modifications
This Hurst Olds has been restored to be as close to factory correct as possible.
Aftermarket gauges, and AU compliant seat belts are the most visible non factory additions .
