Purchased new in May 1974 & 'written off' in December 1979 when avoiding a 'head on' collision with a vehicle on the wrong side of the road; with no injuries suffered by the family. An ordered 'special build' Australian assembled vehicle at the then Australian Motor Industries Clayton plant. Replaced by a new 1979 Volvo 242GT, such was this Volvo's structural strength,
Modifications
Following factory build extras fitted: B20 ohv motor of 2.2 litres capacity fitted with 2 SU carburettors & 'sports' camshaft. Heavy duty front struts & ventilated front disc brakes with Koni shocks. Also fitted with optional factory 15" Volvo '5 spoke' alloy wheels, 'in dash' tachometer & Hella driving lights.
