Found this car parked in the gutter of an Adelaide back street back in 1994. It had flat tyres, cobwebs, rust and a defect sticker. Bargained down the price to $1000.00, alot of money back then. Took a battery, some fuel, a foot pump, oil, water and a Trade plate. Drove it away after about 45minutes work. Took it home and began it’s first minor resto. Did some checking on factory specs & found the original 308 & trimatic had been swapped for a 253 Aussie 4 speed including console. First resto happened between 94-96. Had the interior fully redone by Exact Fit, door trims & crash pad by Dash Original. Paint was done in Acrylic. Was my daily driver & tow car until 99 still with the 253 4 speed. Decided to put it back to how it was made & fit 308 with the trimatic. Mildly modified engine, rebuilt and shift kitted trans 2500 stall. Drove it, drag raced it and dented it until Dec 2003. Took it off the road for it’s second birthday. After a two year on and off total body resto done by Obahn Crash Repairs car came home for another 4 years of complete overhaul. Everything from front to back was undone cleaned, polished, painted or replaced. Still using the same interior and trim from first build, has held up really well after Twenty years. Finally got car finished for 2009 Gazzanats as an entrant. Has become more of a weekender and sunny day car these days. Still drag racing, 12.8 @ 105mph. Thank for lookin’.
Modifications
Motor’s a 308 std stroke .040" overbore,balanced internals, X rods, Crane solid roller cam,screw in studs, guide plates, trend pushrods, Yella Terra platinum series roller rockers, Crane dual springs collets retainers , ARP main stud kit,High Energy deep pan sump. Heads are original HQ red cast iron. They’ve had the big valve treatment, throated ported/polished , match ported to manifold. Intake comes from a port matched PM Engines Stripmaster manifold, 1" spacer and a custom Specialty Tuning 650 double pumper which flowed 830cfm. Swap meet found ceramic coated Pacemaker extractors. Advanced Headers 2.5" twin system. Rebuilt Trimatic, shift kitted, 3200 stall, deep pan sump. Custom 3" thickwall tailshaft with tailshaftloop. Rodtech 9" housing and axles, 3.55 detroit locker 28 spline. Running widened original GTS wheels, 14 by 7 on front and 14 by 8 on rear. Tyres Eagers 330 245/50/14 front 265/50/14 rear.
