History
The Chrysler was first owned, and kept for many years, by G. Wood of Crystal Brook in SA. It was then purchased by W. Symonds of Loxton who removed the back section of the body, converting it into a ute with a tailgate, so that he could use it for hunting & shooting in the station country in the Riverland. The Chrysler being being a very strong & reliable vehicle was very suitable for these outback trips. The Kalisch family from a farm at Lowbank (near Waikerie) were offered the vehicle for apporximately 25 pounds as a farm runabout & for spot lighting foxes & rabbits. After appoximately three years Lawrie Kalisch (who was also a panel beater) asked his father if he could restore the vehicle. Lawrie travelled to Loxton and found the old boot lid & rear panels on a scrap heap & refitted the original panel sections and also rebuilt the wooden frame work as well. Lawrie owned the car for approximately 60 years until it was sold to it's current owners,Tony & Kim Leonello, in 2019. Tony and a friend have been steadily reconditioning the mechanical side of the vehicle as well as minor restoration work to the body. This vehicle is 93 years old and as far as we know it has been in driving condition all that time.
