History
65' is the last of the 1st generation of Buick Riviera. It's performance handling was unheard of for a big coupe. Road & Track's road test guru used the speed through a specific corner on GM's Black Lake test track to rate every car.
When other US cars struggled to hit 50mph on this corner he hit 70 in the Rivera.
The Riviera could have been a NASCAR winner for Buick if their customer base was different (Cadillac targeted the Bank Owner while Buick appealed to the Bank Manager!).
This car pays homage to a fictional Buick dealer who took his Riviera to NASCAR but had to give up when Buick declined to come to the party. What do you do with a circuit race car which has been gathering dust.. take it drag racing! Hence the front runners, bonnet gauges and Mooneyes steering wheel AND NASCAR graphics!
Big Riv has driven from Adelaide to Canberra and back twice for Summernats
