My 1st car was my Grandfathers 1 owner 1959 Major Morris purchased new from Lanes motors, it was left to me before he passed away. I was 17yrs old and every weekend up until then + school holidays was spent in the front seat of the car that would affectionately be known as the Black Moose!! it was Black with Chrome strips & handles. It had a Vinyl red interior with a Big black steering wheel with a 1500 badge in the center and was as basic as u can get. No carpets, No Radio it did have a interior light tho. I remember when it had to be taken to have seat belts fitted ( front only ) and me and my brother would fight for the front seat. It was a 4 speed manual and had a 1500cc 4cyclinder motor of which I was told was the same engine in the MG. Four wheel drums no power assist or booster. Oil Bath air filter on a single SU carby and a positive earth electrical system. Oh and a electric fuel pump. If you removed the front number plate you could Hand Crank the engine. The very first car I drove legally and it was fun. I unfortunately smashed it due to leaking front slave cylinders it was never transferred from my grandfathers name so the person who brought it of me actually technically got it as a 1 owner vehicle, I was young and thinking about V8's and when a customer spotted it in the Garage that I worked at and wanted to buy it, I sold it and always regretted it, to the point my Grandfather came to me in a dream and actually told me it was ok to let go. I always said I would get another and time / work / family & life got in the way. I settled for other toys in my collection, but its true what they say.... "You Never Forget Your 1st"
