History
Back when I was 10 years old (1962) I use to walk past a small used car yard when going to the shops for my Mum.
Being interested in cars I always had a look at the cars. They had this 1951 Triumph Renown there for sometime.
This particular day they had on the windscreen 'Make an offer'.
I went in and offered three pounds as that was all I had in the bank. The salesman said if I had five pounds it would be okay so I went home and told Mum & Dad and they said they would give me to extra two pounds for Christmas.
Dad came down with me and I went up to the salesman with the five pound. He said he was only joking and couldn't sell it for that price. An argument started between Dad and him and the head salesman came out to see what was happening.
It was explained to him what was going on and he told the salesman as he told me I could have it for five pounds he would have to sell it for that.
I had a great time leaning to drive in that car around a 10 acre paddock.
Don't have a picture of actual car so have supplied another.
