History
Originally spotted in late 1975, having wanted a "tank model" since I was about 6 years old, my husband and I finally tracked it down and persuaded the then 3rd owner to part with his Tank Fairlane hearse! yep, an original hearse originally brought in from Canada in pieces, it was assembled and modified to a 2 door hearse in Tumbarrumba. We purchased an almost derelict vehicle for $400 in May of 1976. She has undergone a few heart transplants, a few different looks and we now have the vehicle shown here
Modifications
Modifications are extensive, from the original assembly as a 2 door wagon to the now resident 302 Windsor, 289 heads, shortened rods, flat top pistons, modified sump, lowered mounting of engine, GT Auto radiator, relocated battery (yep that means about 18feet that we lose voltage over, hence a high powered battery), 750 double pump Holley carb, Holley high volume fuel pump running to a CV with Shift kit and 2800 stall converter (a bit high) running through a Pontiac balanced tail shaft into the original 9" diff. Front brakes standard old Ford 11" ventilated (the 3rd change from early solids to unventilated and now) rotors using XW bearings, matching ball joints and tie rod ends. Stabilizers are now Skyline rear and old K-Mac made to order many years ago, Shocks are Koni adjustable, also fitted many years ago (the same as the Jensen Interceptor), steering is standard ford power steering box XF grafted and engineered into the chassis rails. All in all a pretty angry girl, but I love her
