Car was built in Hobart by Nick Lockyer. This was his prototype for the Clubman style. It is space framed and uses Ford Cortina GT 1600 crossflow running gear. Original engine built by Waggotts.
Modifications
I rebuilt engine in early 80's using Mahle high comp pistons, balanced, Cosworth A3 cam. Head was modified by John Brookfield to fit larger valves and match and polish ports. Fed through 42mm DCOE Webbers and exhaust was hand built extractors.
Hi.. I love your magnificent Garage
It is an absolute credit to you.
I would be most grateful if you could click the GREEN VOTE button to vote for my HQ HOLDEN Panelvan on the following link
I thank you in advance for your time and vote and if voted already thank you. Much appreciated.
Dean, you may be correct, it was too long ago to remember clearly but I'm pretty sure it had Webers on it. They were 42mm DCOE's and when I rebuilt the engine I installed a Cosworth A3 Camshaft. The head was ported by John Brookfield ( The legenday Repco Brabham man). About 2 months after I purchased the car from Ian Willams ( a school teacher from Richmond Tasmania and the second owner of the car after Nick Lockyer) I had an accident caused by a front upright lower trunion failure. At this point I stripped the car, rebuilt the front suspension, engine and rear suspension. I also stripped the body and had it repainted Silver ( this was its original colour, being a prototype, Nick said all Prototypes are silver), I cant remember the colour code now it was too long ago.I also took the oportunity to replace all the interior vinyl throughout.
Your Dad may very well own this car now, I have lost touch with it over the years. When I sold it, it was to a guy in Melbourne and I think his name was John Hunkin and if my memory is correct he was out Berwick way somewhere. I also have a video of the car shot by TVT6 in Hobart some years ago for a kids TV show. The young Lass who was the reporter actually owned the Red car she was sitting in. I'm pretty sure I sent that video to John after he bought the car from me.
I hope this info is relevent to you and would look forward to hearing from your Dad in regard to the car as well. Regards Tony
