History
Owned by close friend for 36 years and was getting old and rusty. He wanted a modern bike and threatened to trade it in so I purchased it for trade in value. Stripped down to last nut and bolt, all nuts and bolts nickel coated or replaced, all chrome bits re-chromed, new old school 4 into 4 pipes, new rubber bits including new air-box from USA, engine and frame bits from Holland, France and Australia, new cam running gear, sleeves bored to second stage and Wiseco pistons installed, bottom end and gearbox reassembled as 100% good (factory tolerances), near new head and cam sourced from USA (old one had softened), new hardened valves and guides, new cam chain and cam running gear, 29mm smoothbore carburettors (26 mm factory set in box). Frame straightened by Snows in Adelaide, enamel paint to frame (don’t believe in powder coating as too difficult to repair and repaint), refurbished instruments including instrument faces, switchgear refurbished (not replaced), wiring loom refurbished, electronic ignition (pints painful on these models), stainless spokes, polished casings, re-chromed rims, polished hubs, new electric bits, lights, mounts and it just goes on and on. More money spent than it’s current market worth, but most restorations I see aren’t really restorations, they are a freshen up and touch-up. This is the real deal.
Modifications
