History
Traded my 1968 Kawasaki 90 in for this secondhand Yamaha AT3E which was equipped with a 12 volt electric start, something only enduro bikes received 25+ years later, since 2000. It was a great bike, handled well, had lots of power and given my youth, the fact that I trail rode with my mates every weekend and often after school, I knew the tracks, the gullies, the jumps and dirt roads extremely well. I regularly raced against the older licenced riders on their Suzuki Savages, Apaches, Sierras and Honda 350 and could easily outpace them. The only downer with these 12 volt electrics is that they were susceptible to voltage loss in wet conditions and the bike wouldn’t run unless the battery was charged. I later found out that my 125 was actually fitted with a barrel and piston from a 175 Yamaha. That explained why it went so well. Traded the 125 for a new DT360A.
* Unfortunately can not locate a good photo of my AT3E but it was identical to the Yamaha pictured.
Modifications
