History
Swapped an unloved Lancia Beta Coupe for this & haven’t regretted it to this day.
(The Lancia was fast, but hard to drive well, had an awful gearbox & was rusty!!)
The Fiat’s probably the most fun car to drive that I have owned. Previous owner was an Italian mechanic & Fiat specialist who had really looked after it well, so it gave me virtually no trouble in all the time I had it. Handled as though on rails on 6" alloys & had a beautiful exhaust note so typical of Italian cars. Used to drive through the Cahill Expressway tunnel just to hear the exhaust bounce off the walls - brilliant!!
Gave it a new paint job in about 1983 & had the seats reupholstered from the original vinyl to a vinyl/cloth combo
It got too small upon the imminent arrival of child No. 2 & sold it to my ex brother in law who loved it for a good few years too.
Fabulous car - the other one (along with the BMW) I wish I still had. No wonder values are skyrocketing.
Modifications
Reupholstered seats, recovered the dash, put on some alloy wheels & driving lights.
