History
This car is NZ-new, one previous owner. From some 44,000 made from 1954-1957 there are said to be 3 to 5 left in UK and thought to be a similar number left in NZ. It has been featured in many magazines and on TV and is building some provenance both in NZ and overseas
The rear side widows are filled in, actually converting it to a Commer Cob body..
Modifications
All the running gear has been totally replaced. The engine is a vintage V8-60 derived Flathead V8 from a 1958 Vedette in California.
The engine is extensively modified to speedway specifications - with all the tricks of the day and even has an external drive oil pump. The Edlelrock twin carb set up was off a 1930s Hydroplane The engine drives via a Toyota 5 speed gearbox to a narrowed Falcon diff.
The front suspension is a work of art made by Dave Sales of Jalopy engineering in Blenheim.
It has 4 wheel disc brakes and many other fabricated parts to make it all work together to tow our 1956 replica Teardrop camping trailer which I designed and built in my garage.
