History
I built this car about 40 years ago and loved it as my daily driver for about 5 years or so. The body was in great condition however after doing the mechanicals I had it painted in British racing green. the mechanicals were pretty stuffed so I changed them out.
Modifications
I fitted the Ford Transit V4 1700cc motor and 4 speed box which fitted beautifully with no engine compartment mods what so ever. This combination looked like it was built especially for this car. i changed the rear end to the Austin Lancer unit and fitted a 2.78 EH Holden centre. With the truck gearbox having a very low first gear this increased the top gearing immensely so the car was capable of 100 Mph easily. The front brakes were also Lancer and wheels were modified lancer all round. This was the easiest conversion I have ever done as the body remained completely original. The gauges were Chrysler Centura which were a great fit in the small Morris dash. This was the period in time when you could walk through wrecking yards and pick parts at random for any car. A fabulous time in our lives
