History
I always wanted a Citroen. I wanted to try the hydropneumatic suspension. I wanted the quirkiness. I admire the engineering.
The GS was amazing. Amazingly ugly at the front. Amazingly beige inside and out. Amazingly complex, but also high tech for a 1975 economy model.
Waiting for the car to rise up before you could drive away always made me smile. It was a hoot to drive, revving up and down through the gearbox. The brakes were a bit awkward for heel-and-toeing, the steering could be heavy, and it sucked down the fuel, but it bowled me over with the technology that went into that little beige beast!
Sadly a Toyota took it out out before the rust did. I could be easily tempted into another GS, but next time, not as an only car.
