History
I've been through a couple of cars. The first white R33 had light modifications that made it fun as a weekend driver and occasional track car. It however met a tyre wall at low speed and was re-shelled into another silver R33 shell. This car lasted a while longer and became more modified over time, with larger wheels and rubber and bigger brakes. It however suffered diff failure and attempted to run through a concrete wall at Winton.
So we come to the latest car, another Silver R33. Parts were exchanged from the binned car to this one and the journey continued.
In it's current form the car is still running a road spec tyre and cutting laps times of those on semi/r compound rubber.
Modifications
Many to list...
The car is tuned by Chequered Tuning, utilising a PowerFC ECU. Exhaust manifold is standard with a Hypergear 21U turbo.
With a Z32 AFM and 3" metal induction pipe and a 3" to twin 2.25" exhaust system from Havoc fabrication the car makes just over 300kw (400hp) on the hub dyno. The tuned coupled with the turbo results in a super responsive power and torque curve, with full boost just after 3,000RPM.
Keeping the weight of the car (some 1400kg) and the power to the road is Ksport 8pot 330mm front brakes, with standard R33 2pot 292mm rears. Suspension is BC Racing 2 way adjustable ER series with 16kgmm and 12kgmm springs. With Cusco castor and camber adjustment on the front and all stock arms in the rear. Wheel alignment is handled by the team at Tyre Power Frankston.
Getting the power to the ground is a NISMO GT 2 way diff center inside a 4.3:1 ratio diff.
Aero is DIY with a mix of ebay and bunnings parts.
The team at Hoppers Stoppers fabricated a light, strong, safe roll cage and also lowered the driving position for fitment and center of gravity improvement.
