History
I purchased this vehicle by pure chance when it was abandoned after import because of too much rust damage (via salt placed on roads in Indiana).
I had a big-block engine waiting for a home, and this car needed a whole new chassis and floor - enabling the two to come together.
Now this took 13 years, as I did everything myself (except paint colour coat) in my car port at home, but only in any spare time I had with my 3 kids growing up around me.
Modifications
Where do I start......
Replaced all exterior quarter panels and doors. Fabricated new floors, custom firewall, full chassis, custom front suspension bracing.
RHD conversion plus modern RRS font and rear suspension.
Modified rear RRS 3-Link suspension to upgrade to a full 4-Link system.
8-stack, fuel injected 520 c.i. (8.5 Litre) big block managed by Autronic EFI & CDI systems.
Engine is dry-sumped to sit as low as possible and situated rearward as far as possible for better weight balance.
5 speed Tremec TKX gearbox into a 35 spline detroit locker diff' with full floating hubs. Custom offset American Racing 18" rims, 8" width front and 9.5" width rear.
Lap/Sash seatbelts for all passengers (no simple task for the rear seats of an early fastback), custom dash/gauge-pod hand-formed from 2mm Aluminium sheet then covered with a full leather interior, keyless ignition system only activated via fingerprint scanner.
I have kept all original glass, exterior chrome & stainless trim, roof panel and pillars, trans-tunnel, rear floor/shock-tower and front frame/shock-tower sections.
Many more modifications - but all to make it safe, drivable and workable for myself.
