History
While here in Australia in 1970 we were puffing out our chests claiming the worlds fastest four door sedan, the US giants were pumping out two door Coupes, Sportsroof and hardtops that would annihilate anything made in Australia for years to come. There was little interest in the meager horsepower offerings of small blocks, it was big block all the way, and four doors were reserved for taxi’s! You haven’t seen a ‘shaker’ shake, until you’ve seen one atop a big block!
Here is my J Code Cobra Jet, built to Super Cobra Jet standard (an under represented 375 hp in order to keep insurance premiums down, they actually were north of 400 hp, equating to mid 13 second 1/4 mile times.
At a third the cost of an RPO83 XAGT Coupe or a fifth or even a tenth of the cost of a GTHO Phase 3, and able to incinerate same over the 1/4 mile, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise which offering gives you most bang for your buck, and not an extra pair of doors in sight!
This car was rotisserie restored in 2016 and kept in a private collection, only driven to car shows to win trophies.
It arrived in Australia on 6 Sep 2022 and lives in Brisbane.

None, this is how these cars were made, for real men who wanted to beat up the streets of their local town and take on all comers!
