History
Bought from new and my second Mazda MX-5. My intentions were always to modify it for club motor sport but keep the exterior looking standard for show and shine events. I have traveled all over Australia in this MX-5. One trip included a circumnavigation of Australia where I covered 17,000km in 35 days in 2006.
Modifications began in earnest at the end of 2006. It took a few months to achieve my target of performance and reliability. Not long after it was back on the road this MX-5 was entered in the 2006 PAS Western Salon car show and won first place in the Show and Polish Engine Bay category. This was a great testament to the guys who engineered the modifcations. After gaining some experience racing my MX-5 in sprints and autotests I was fortunate enough to have GTI Performance (Simon Gunson) tune my car which transrformed it into a quick car on the track and perfectly drivable on the road.
Modifications
Engine rebuilt with race-spec internals. Custom turbo, intercooler and pipework. Custom extractors and exhaust system. Wolf V500 ECU. Tein Flex adjustable coilovers. Wilwood four-piston front brake calipers with slotted rotors.
