History
While living in the US, I bought this Chev Caprice as my daily driver - this model was the last of the large US wagons (killed off by the switch to SUVs), which came in Buick, Chev and Oldsmobile models. The Buick Roadmaster model was the most popular, typically featuring the woody faux wood panelling down the sides. The Chev models were typically without the wood look.
The carrying capacity of this car was amazing - with the rear seat folded flat, the floor area was the same size as the bed of a large pick-up truck - capable of carrying a 4x8 sheet of building plywood. This made it a great vehicle for going camping, etc. The rear tailgate had a 2-way action - it could swing like a door, or be folded down. It was also a great long-distance cruiser (like driving on the freeway while sitting in a lazyboy recliner), which I took from NC to Florida on a couple of occasions.
I would like to have brought it back to Aus with me, but I dont think the conversion cost to RHD could be justified on a car like this
