History
I bought my Catalina in 2009 from a retired couple in Florida, while I was living in North Carolina. The car was originally sold in Seattle, then moved to Ohio before moving to Florida. I am the 3rd owner of the car, which now has 108,000 miles on the clock. (With the cold winters in the US, convertibles typically get used only in the warmer months and spend the rest of the time garaged - so they are often found in better condition and with lower mileage than sedans or hardtop coupes).
The car was in good original condition when I bought it - original paint (which had gone dull on the upper surfaces), a couple of very small rust spots and a couple of minor scrapes to the bodywork. It came with the original factory build sheet and I have since added the PHS paperwork to the collection. It also has some interesting factory options - disc brakes, power top / windows / seats / steering, cornering lamps, central locking, remote boot release and a retractable engine bay light (which can be unwound and will reach the back of the car, in the event that you need to change a rear tyre at night).
The posted photos range from the condition when I bought it (taken from the CarChex inspection report I had done (www.carchex.com) - a great way to check out a car in the US if you cannot see it first hand), then after the repaint in the US, and finally back in Sydney.
I returned to Sydney in 2011, so just had to bring the car back with me!
Modifications
No modifications per se - the car is fully stock. Before returning to Australia, I had the car repainted (frame on), a new roof fitted and new carpet - other than that it is fully original. The original roof canvas was a turquoise colour to match the paint - unfortunately that colour canvas is no longer available, so I went with a cream top instead.
