History
I purchased this ute in September 2011 as I have always had a soft spot for these utes.
The car has been off the road for many years (at least 15) and was in a poor state mechanically. It had no brakes or clutch and I did not know if it ran. I have since replaced the brakes and clutch and to get the engine running it was a matter of a carbie kit and fresh petrol (you've gotta love these old Holdens).
The body was relatively good for its age with only minor rust (surprising for a ute). It had many coats of paint over the years, all still on there. the last colour it was painted was a British Racing Green. All these layers of paint have now been stripped back to the metal so I can start with a blank canvas and repair any body damage properly (not that there is much).
My intention is to restore this ute back to its original condition however I was having trouble identifying the paint and trim codes.
With the great help of the FB / EK Holden Club and Forum I was advised that this is actually an ex-Government vehicle (PMG) and the colour was Ashwood Grey with a Green & Grey Interior. Without their gracious help I would have been lost!
I have almost finished the mechanicals and body work and hope to have it on the road in the next couple of months. Can't wait to drive it.
Here comes another one Shannon's!!!
