History
I purchased my Trumpy in 2002 as an ’02 model but was actually built in ’01 so is one of the early bikes of this model. Significant changes over the previous model were the double sided swing-arm and reduced weight down to 188 kg.
My bike was already a year old almost when I bought it with 5000 km’s on the clock and a new rear tyre. It proved too uncomfortable to ride for the first owner and was traded on a new Sprint at Mildura Motorcycles.
I have put around an extra 55,000 km’s on my bike since with many trips to Phillip Island via the Great Ocean road or Mount Hotham and Bairnsdale from where I live. Both are great rides!!
Most trips have been made with my wife on the back and half a ton of luggage.......and besides a light front end it has performed faultlessly as a touring machine, but back road scratching is where it really shines :)
Casey style, black line through and out of corners :P
The sound of a well muffled big triple on song is a beautiful thing. That and the torque of the triple is what drew me in, purchasing my Trumpy over an ’02 Fireblade that I also test rode at the time.
Watch the YouTube video attached to see (hear) what I mean :)
Early 2015 I had a Blue Flame high rise dual exit carbon oval can fitted to my bike. The bracket was wrong and needed re-engineering but it sits up high and tight and looks tits!!! :P
Unfortunately it's not as good as the old Triumph carbon can, it had the best rasp and growl and over run pops and farts.....the new one with the baffle and disc taken out makes it sound like a droning 4 cylinder..... :( Pretty quiet with the silencers in too so will just have to wait for this one to wear out so it sounds good too.
Modifications
