History
I grew up in Renmark SA. My father bought this 3A Singer Gazelle in the early 1960s to relace our Singer 9 tourer. It was his pride and joy. When he died in 1995, it went to a family member, then a few years later, it was sold on, unbeknown to the extended family. In April last year, while accessing a dealers website to see a friends car, this car came up on the screen. It looked like dads car! I rang the dealer who said yes he understood the car was from the Riverland originally. But, it had a floor shift whereas dads was a column shift. I also contacted the Singer Club in SA to see if they might know where dads car was. The actual owner of the car, Steve, answered my call, and said he knew the previous owner was from Renmark. My niece contacted me and said my dad always put his name and address in the hubcaps. Steve said yes, he had the hubcaps with dads contact details hanging in his shed and he had converted the car to a floorshift. It WAS dads car! I immediately paid a deposit, and we drove to Strathalbyn the next day and picked it up. The while family is delighted and dads watch hangs on a handle so "he's with us" everytime we take it out. 27 Years after dad died, his car is home with me, his youngest and only surviving child. He'd be very happy. He was a stout British royalist and would have loved to go to Goodwood.
