History
1937 Riley Sprite
First imported into Sydney Australia in 1938. Later owned by Len Allen, an official of the Riley Car Club of N.S.W.
Sold to, Ross Griffiths prior to 1963. I purchased the car, totally dismantled, in 1985 and have been working on the restoration off and on ever since!
Modifications
I have replaced the original Sprite body with a replica T.T. Sprite body and fitted a supercharger to the 12/4 Sprite engine, which I have offset one and a half inches, as was done on the factory racing Rileys of the day.
I have fitted a set of 15 inch E.R.A. type, rod actuated, magnesium brakes, which I manufactured from drawings obtained from Bill Morris, who raced ERA’s in the UK and Australia.
The car is yet to race in its present form, but I am hoping to have it finished for the Historic meeting at Sandown later this year (2014).
