History
I bought the car second hand in 1977 and drove it back to Newman. We drove to Perth a back several times and across to Canberra and Sydney. It performed really well giving a good combination of sped and consumption. It was also one of the most comfortable drives I have owned. I kept it for just over 7 years and and have regretted selling it.
Modifications
The car was kept stock standard until the rear trailing arm bushes collapsed, and they were replaced with custom made Teflon bushes. Dramatic improvement is handling. After suffering a cracked ring in No.1, it received a full mechanical overhaul, with race/rally cam, twin Webber 45’s, oil cooler, rebuilt gearbox and O/D, higher capacity water pump as well as additional Teflon bushes for the suspension. The performance increase at the time was substantial.
