History
I bought the van brand new in 1978 from the then Holden dealer Beasley and Bruce in Canberra. I sat down with the salesman and ticked off a few options, a 3.08 diff and a heavy duty radiator as I intended to use the van as a bit of a touring machine. I decked out the back with a mattress and the mandatory sound proofing, sidewall lining, cupboards/storage over the wheel arches and an archway with french louvres - pretty trendy back then!
I owned her for three years and drove the wheels off her travelling up and down the East coast from Adelaide in the south and up to the far north of Queensland. It was a sad day when I bid her farewell!
Modifications
Basically kept her stock but I did add a 600 Holley four barrel and a set of HM headers as soon as the initial warranty ran out. The headers and the carb made a huge difference providing far better fuel consumption over the stock configuration. Added a tow bar as well as a pair Monroe Wiley air shockers in the rear too.
